Private-Label Cartridges: MOQ, Cost and Lead-Time Planning
A private-label release needs a complete product specification, not just a logo change. Define the game, hardware and retail set together so that the quoted quantity, price and schedule refer to the same build.

Confirm the quantity per title
RetroForge cartridge projects start from 50 units per title or project, subject to technical feasibility and the agreed specification. Ask how board versions, shell colours and printed variants are counted. Packaging-only and component-only quantities are reviewed separately.
Build the cost scope
- Board, programming and any engineering required.
- Shell, label and assembly.
- Case or carton, manual and inserts.
- Sample work, tooling and proofs where relevant.
- Inspection, transit packing and delivery responsibility.
Request quantity or finish alternatives against that same scope. Keep setup and repeat-order costs visible so that the first order and a later replenishment can be compared properly.
Approve the sample before bulk
Record the authorised game-file version, board, shell, artwork and packaging. Test the agreed functions on the intended hardware, inspect the assembled set and resolve changes. Confirm the production inspection scope and required evidence before releasing the order.
Use milestones for the schedule
Typical cartridge samples take 10–15 days after requirements, files and sample start conditions are confirmed. Typical bulk production is 15–30 days after sample approval and agreed production conditions. Your quote confirms the actual window. Tooling, special sourcing, revisions, shipping and customs can add separate stages.
A target arrival date needs both the production schedule and a current delivery plan. Do not treat the production window as a promise of arrival.
Send a reviewable private-label brief
Provide the platform, quantity per title or variant, file and artwork status, retail contents, delivery country and target date. Use custom cartridges for the production enquiry and retail packaging for a packaging-specific review. Game data and artwork must be owned or licensed for the intended production.
