LoROM / HiROM Configuration

We configure the memory model your build targets — LoROM for most titles, HiROM for the larger ones — and verify the header checksum before programming.

NTSC and PAL shells with the correct side tabs, plus Super Famicom outlines for the Japanese market. Region tabs are moulded correctly, not cut by hand.

Frequently Asked Questions

My project needs an enhancement chip. Can you build it?
Yes, for the common ones — Super FX, SA-1, DSP series, S-DD1 and CX4. Chip availability varies, so tell us which one the build requires and we confirm stock before quoting.
LoROM or HiROM — which should I order?
It is determined by the build, not by preference. Most titles are LoROM; a smaller set use HiROM. Ordering the wrong one produces a black screen. We verify the model from your files.
Do SNES carts work across regions?
Not without modification. PAL and NTSC shells have different side tabs, and the CIC differs. We build per region so cartridges seat properly in the target console.
Can you do Super Famicom shells?
Yes. Super Famicom uses a different shell outline and label area than the SNES. Specify which market you are supplying so the moulding and label match.
How is the save handled?
Battery-backed SRAM, as on original hardware. We fit a holder so the cell is user-replaceable.
What is the MOQ and lead time for SNES builds?
MOQ is 50 units per title. Samples take 10–15 days; bulk production runs 15–30 days after sample approval. Enhancement chip builds can add time depending on silicon availability.

Platform-Specific Quality Standards

PCB & Electrical

5V TTL bus with ENIG gold fingers at 0.1μm or thicker. SNES signals are less forgiving than NES at higher address widths, so we hold tighter tolerances on the connector fingers and check for cold joints.

Enhancement Chip Verification

Chip-dependent builds are tested for the specific function the chip provides — polygon rendering on Super FX, decompression on S-DD1, math on DSP — not just for reaching the title screen.

Shell & Region Tabs

NTSC, PAL and Super Famicom shells are moulded with the correct tabs and label recess. Mis-shaped tabs are the single most common reason a cart will not seat.
