How to Choose a Retro Cartridge Manufacturer
Choose a manufacturer by the work and evidence needed for your product. A relevant sample, clear specification and written responsibility are more useful than a long equipment list.

Start with a comparable brief
Send each supplier the same platform, authorised game-file requirements, quantity per title, shell, label, packaging and delivery destination. Identify work your team will supply and questions that still need engineering review.
Review capability against the actual product
- Can the proposed board support the game's memory, save and other features?
- Which shell and packaging formats are available?
- Which work is performed directly and which uses specialist partners?
- What relevant sample and process evidence can be reviewed?
Verify certifications, capacity and test coverage separately if they matter to the purchase. A workshop photo does not establish those claims for a specific order.
Make the sample an acceptance step
Agree the file version, board revision, intended hardware and test scope. Check the sample's function, assembly and complete retail presentation. Record approved items and unresolved changes before the bulk run.
Ask which inspection checks cover all units and which use sampling, and what evidence is included. Confirm how a change in files or components affects approval and schedule.
Compare the complete quote
Look for sample work, setup or tooling, production units, printing, assembly, inspection, transit packing and delivery responsibility. Confirm applicable issue-handling terms. If two quotes differ, find the scope difference before choosing on unit price.
Plan your first RetroForge project
Cartridge projects start from 50 units per title or project, subject to feasibility and specification. Typical samples take 10–15 days after confirmed requirements, files and start conditions; typical bulk production takes 15–30 days after sample approval and agreed conditions. Your quote confirms the schedule, with revisions and shipping planned separately.
Review custom cartridge manufacturing, then send the platform, quantity, file status and target date. Components, packaging and original handheld sourcing have separate quantity and availability reviews.

- Sample or batch evidence and packing requirements
- Delivery country, postal code if known and target date
